Bayer Aspirin Cardio 100mg Tablets 30s contain 100mg of acetylsalicylic acid, commonly known as aspirin. This medicine is formulated as an enteric-coated tablet and is used at low doses primarily for its antiplatelet effect rather than for pain relief.
Aspirin works by inhibiting platelet activation and aggregation. Platelets are blood cells involved in the formation of blood clots. By reducing their ability to stick together, low-dose aspirin can help reduce the formation of clots within blood vessels. This makes it useful in selected patients who are at increased risk of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events.
How it works
Acetylsalicylic acid irreversibly inhibits platelet cyclooxygenase, reducing the production of thromboxane A2. This decreases platelet activation and aggregation. The resulting antiplatelet effect helps reduce the likelihood of certain blood clots forming inside arteries.
