Overview
Dermol Emollient Cream 50ml is a topical moisturising and antimicrobial cream for dry, itchy and problem skin. It is commonly used in the management of eczema and dermatitis, where dryness and scratching can damage the skin's protective barrier. The cream helps soften the skin, reduce moisture loss and limit the growth of certain bacteria on the skin.
The standard Dermol Cream formulation contains:
Benzalkonium chloride 0.1% w/w
Chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 0.1% w/w
Liquid paraffin 10% w/w
Isopropyl myristate 10% w/w
The two antimicrobial ingredients help reduce bacteria on the skin, while liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate act as emollients.
Mechanism of Action: How It Works
Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate soften the skin and help reduce moisture loss by forming a protective emollient layer. Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride are antimicrobial agents that help reduce certain bacteria on the skin. Together, these ingredients support skin hydration and help protect dry, irritated skin.
