Yasmin Tablets 3mg/0.03mg 21s are a combined oral contraceptive containing two active ingredients: drospirenone 3mg and ethinylestradiol 0.03mg (30 micrograms) per film-coated tablet. Yasmin is used primarily for oral contraception.
How does Yasmin work?
Yasmin contains:
Drospirenone 3mg – a progestogen with contraceptive activity. Drospirenone also has antiandrogenic and mild antimineralocorticoid properties.
Ethinylestradiol 0.03mg – an oestrogen that works together with drospirenone to suppress ovulation and provide reliable combined hormonal contraception when taken correctly.
The two hormones work together to prevent ovulation and create conditions that make fertilisation less likely
