Progynova 2mg Tablets 20s contain estradiol valerate 2mg, an oestrogen hormone used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Estradiol valerate is converted in the body to estradiol, which is biologically similar to the naturally occurring human oestrogen hormone. Progynova is an oestrogen-only medicine and is available as an oral tablet.
USES / INDICATIONS
Progynova 2mg may be prescribed for:
- Hormone replacement therapy for symptoms of oestrogen deficiency during peri-menopause and post-menopause
- Prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in appropriately selected women at increased fracture risk.
How does Progynova work?
Progynova contains estradiol valerate, an ester of estradiol. After administration, it is converted to estradiol, replacing or supplementing oestrogen that is deficient in the body.
By restoring oestrogen activity, Progynova can help relieve symptoms associated with reduced oestrogen levels during menopause. Oestrogen also contributes to maintaining bone health, which is why HRT may have a role in preventing bone loss in appropriately selected postmenopausal women.
