Overview
Hedex Tablets 100’s is an analgesic and antipyretic medicine used to relieve mild-to-moderate pain and reduce fever. The standard Hedex tablet formulation contains paracetamol 500 mg per tablet.
Paracetamol is commonly used for headaches, toothache, period pain, muscular aches and fever associated with colds and flu. It helps relieve symptoms but does not treat the underlying cause of an infection.
how it works
Paracetamol tablets work primarily in the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to relieve pain and reduce fever.
Pain relief (analgesic action): Paracetamol reduces pain signalling in the central nervous system via prostaglandin-related pathways.
Fever reduction (antipyretic action): It acts on the brain’s temperature-regulating centre, helping bring an elevated body temperature back towards normal.
Important: Paracetamol has very little anti-inflammatory activity compared with NSAIDs such as ibuprofen.
