Overview
Ephedrine Child Nasal Drops 10 mL is a nasal decongestant intended to provide temporary relief from a blocked nose. Nasal congestion occurs when the blood vessels in the lining of the nose become swollen, making it difficult to breathe comfortably through the nostrils. This can happen during a common cold or with certain nasal conditions.
Ephedrine works by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors in blood vessels within the nasal lining, causing vasoconstriction. This reduces swelling and helps open the nasal passages temporarily.
Active ingredient and how it works
The expected active ingredient is ephedrine hydrochloride. Ephedrine is a sympathomimetic medicine. When applied inside the nose, it constricts blood vessels in the nasal lining, reducing swelling and temporarily improving airflow. It relieves congestion but does not cure the underlying infection or allergy.
