Overview
Benaflu Toto 60 mL is a paediatric cold and flu syrup intended to provide symptomatic relief from selected symptoms associated with common colds and flu-like illnesses. It combines three active ingredients: paracetamol, pseudoephedrine and chlorpheniramine. Each ingredient serves a different purpose, helping address symptoms such as fever, mild aches, nasal congestion, sneezing and a runny nose.
Active ingredients and how they work
Paracetamol: Helps reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain, including headache and body aches. It acts on pathways involved in pain and temperature regulation. Excessive doses can cause serious liver damage.
Pseudoephedrine: A nasal decongestant that constricts blood vessels in the nasal lining, helping reduce swelling and temporarily relieve a blocked nose. It may cause restlessness, a rapid heartbeat or increased blood pressure.
Chlorpheniramine: An antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors, helping relieve sneezing, a runny nose and other allergy-like symptoms. It may cause drowsiness.
Together, these ingredients address different symptoms rather than treating the virus responsible for a cold or flu.
