Clarinase Tablets 14s are an oral combination medicine containing an antihistamine and a nasal decongestant. The Clarinase 10mg/240mg prolonged-release formulation contains loratadine 10mg and pseudoephedrine sulfate 240mg per tablet. Loratadine helps control allergy symptoms, while pseudoephedrine helps relieve nasal congestion.
Clarinase is intended for people experiencing allergic rhinitis accompanied by nasal congestion. Allergic rhinitis can cause symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy or watery eyes and nasal blockage. The combination of an antihistamine and decongestant is designed to address both the allergic symptoms and congestion.
How Clarinase works
Loratadine is a second-generation antihistamine that selectively blocks peripheral histamine H1 receptors. Histamine contributes to symptoms such as sneezing, itching and nasal discharge during an allergic reaction. Blocking its effects helps reduce these symptoms.
Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic decongestant. It helps reduce swelling and congestion of the nasal mucous membranes, making it easier to breathe through the nose.
