What is Lubtear Eye Drops 10ml?
Lubtear Eye Drops 10ml is a lubricating ophthalmic solution used as an artificial tear for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with dry and irritated eyes. It contains Dextran 70 0.1% and Hypromellose 0.3% in a sterile eye-drop formulation.
Dry eye can occur when the eyes do not produce enough tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. This can result in symptoms such as dryness, burning, grittiness, irritation and discomfort. Environmental factors such as wind, dust, air conditioning and prolonged screen use may also contribute to eye dryness.
Lubtear works as an artificial tear and ocular lubricant, helping to keep the surface of the eye moist and providing temporary relief from discomfort associated with inadequate tear or mucous secretion.
Active ingredients
Each 1ml of Lubtear Eye Drops contains:
- Dextran 70 USP 1mg (0.1%)
- Hypromellose USP 3mg (0.3%)
The combination acts as a lubricant and artificial tear.
What is Lubtear used for?
Lubtear is indicated for:
- Dry eyes
- Ocular irritation associated with deficient tear or mucous secretion
- Temporary relief of burning caused by dry eyes
- Temporary relief of eye irritation associated with dryness
- Ocular lubrication
- Supporting protection of the corneal surface in conditions such as keratoconjunctivitis.
It may be particularly useful when the eyes feel dry, uncomfortable or irritated due to reduced tear production or increased tear-film evaporation.
How does Lubtear work?
Dextran 70 and hypromellose act as lubricating agents. When applied to the eye, they help provide moisture and lubrication to the ocular surface.
The combination helps retain moisture on the eye and slow evaporation of the tear film, providing a soothing artificial-tear effect.
Lubtear is intended for symptomatic relief and lubrication. It does not necessarily treat the underlying cause of persistent dry eye.
