Proflow 10mg is an anticoagulant medicine containing rivaroxaban, supplied as film-coated tablets in a pack of 30. It belongs to a class of medicines called direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs).
Each tablet contains Rivaroxaban 10mg.
Rivaroxaban works by blocking Factor Xa, a protein involved in the blood clotting process. This reduces the formation of harmful blood clots.
It is prescribed for:
Prevention of blood clots following elective hip or knee replacement surgery.
Prevention of recurrent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) after an initial treatment course, where appropriate.
Proflow should be taken according to the prescribed treatment schedule. The 10mg tablets can be taken with or without food.
Because rivaroxaban reduces blood clotting, it increases the risk of bleeding. Patients should watch for unusual bruising, prolonged bleeding, blood in urine or stools, or unusually heavy menstrual bleeding.
Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your healthcare professional, as stopping anticoagulant treatment prematurely may increase the risk of blood clots.
