Overview
Podosal Ointment is a medicated topical preparation. It contains podophyllum resin and salicylic acid, which work together to treat selected warts by damaging the affected tissue and helping remove its hardened outer layers.
How It Works
Podophyllum resin has an antimitotic action, meaning it interferes with the process cells use to divide and multiply. This damages the abnormal tissue forming the wart and helps it gradually break down. Salicylic acid complements this action by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing the thickened surface to soften and shed. Together, these ingredients help remove selected warts, but their strong action means they must be kept away from healthy skin.
