Overview
Tetracycline Skin Ointment 15g is a topical antibiotic containing tetracycline hydrochloride 3% w/w. It is used for selected superficial bacterial skin conditions involving bacteria susceptible to tetracycline.
Mechanism of Action: How It Works
Tetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding reversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit. This interferes with the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA during protein production, preventing susceptible bacteria from producing proteins needed for growth and multiplication.Tetracycline is generally bacteriostatic, meaning it inhibits bacterial growth rather than directly killing bacteria in all circumstances. Its effectiveness depends on the susceptibility of the bacteria involved
